How cool is this? Zornhau suggested I should crosspost to LiveJournal, and apparently it's as easy as editing the accounts setting on Dreamwidth:

  • You log in.

  • Select "Manage Account" under the Organize menu.

  • Select the "Other sites" tab.

  • Click the Add button to add a new "other site".

  • Enter details of your account at the other site (including account name and password).

  • Select the checkbox for "Crosspost by default".

  • Enter footer text that will appear at the bottom of each echoed post. This includes options to link to the original post and to reply on the original post so you only have to monitor one site, not two.

  • In theory, my Dreamwidth accounts will now be echoed to Livejournal at http://blatherskite2.livejournal.com/. Let's hear it for automatic backups! I'll have to set up a profile etc., but that shouldn't take too long. A project for the weekend!

Unfortunately, this will only work starting with the current post; I'll have to find time to manually copy the old posts over to Livejournal. Oh well... worse things happen.

    Have you seen the importer?

    https://www.dreamwidth.org/tools/importer

You don't have to manually copy LJ posts over, unless you want to (like, for instance, you only want some of the posts instead of all of them)! It imports the comments, too.

Ooooh, drat. I suck at reading comprehension. I wonder if just editing them and saving them on DW with the cross posting checked will do that? Might be easier than copy pasting, anyway.
