Sorry it's been so long since the last post... still struggling to catch up on the workload and mostly failing. In the meantime, I haven't been idle:

Dance the Shadows, my third novel, is now posted and available free for the reading. I hope to make it available shortly via Lulu.com, like my other two novels, but I'm waiting for permission to use the cover photo that I really want to use. If I don't hear back from the photographer in a day or two, I'll look into the several possible alternate photos. This one's different from most of what I've done before; though it's still a fantasy, it's a "young adult" story. That means it has teen protagonists and speaks (at least to some extent) to teen concerns, not that it's in any way dumbed down.

If the gods of work smile upon me, I'll soon have enough free time to start work on revising an old novella called Blood in the Snow, which is a tongue-in-cheek take on murder mysteries, with fantasy protagonists in addition to the usual cast of human characters. The main character started life as a Hobbit before becoming a Dwarf; he may become a Hobbit again by the time I'm done with the revision. Let's skip the long story about why I changed him to a Dwarf; the short version is that I was greatly amused by Bored of the Rings as a young adolescent and did not want to pastiche it as an adult. This one currently isn't long enough to publish as a standalone novel, so most likely it will be added as the final story in a collection of the short stories I've published to date.

I've also finally found time to review the stories in the January 2011 issue of Asimov's Science Fiction Magazine", which puts me only two issues behind schedule for my ongoing exercise of reviewing short fiction. And the next issue of F&SF just arrived, alas. So it goes...
