A couple folks have asked about how they can identify themselves when they comment on one of my blog postings. So far as I can determine, there are currently only three options:

First and easiest, you can set up a Dreamwidth account, and so long as you're logged in, you should be able to post comments using your screen name. Free Dreamwidth accounts are being rationed right now because the site owners have a clue, and they're growing their membership slowly to ensure that they don't overload their servers and degrade service unacceptably. I can probably contribute a few invite codes that will let you create your own account if you wish. You can also purchase an account (it's not expensive), then downgrade it to a free account if you decide you don't need the extra features.

Second, if you have a blog or any other online presence at a site that participates in the OpenID system, you can use that address to post a comment using your OpenID screen name. Click here to learn how Dreamwidth interacts with OpenID, or check the Wikipedia article on OpenID for more general details.

Third, you can simply choose the "anonymous" option. I enabled this feature because I don't want people to have to create a blog compatible with OpenID or set up a Dreamwidth account just to be able to comment. With this option, simply type your name and any other relevant stuff (e-mail address, Web site, blog) as part of a signature at the end of your comment. I store this kind of information in a Word file and my e-mail software's signature files so I can quickly copy/paste instead of having to retype this information each time.

If any other methods come to mind, please provide details and I'll do my best to implement them as soon as feasible.

Thanks for the links!
With the right method, setting Open ID with WordPress is a cinch!
